ESMERALDAS

Esmeraldas is in the extreme northwest of Ecuador. The first Spanish people were impressed to see to the indigenous use emeralds. Hence, this province is called Esmeraldas. It is known as “the green province” because of the mangroves and tropical forests. Also, it has some of the most beautiful beaches on the coast. However, we believe that the greatest attraction Esmeraldas offers is its own people with its open nature and the joy of life.
Esmeraldas is a place that you can’t miss. It is one of the favorite places for tourists because it has beautiful beaches.  Atacames, Mompiche, Tongorachi and the island Muisne. It is the wettest coastal province because most days in this region begin sunny and end with rain in the afternoon and evenings. After you know the touristic places and eat the typical food, you can sleep in an ecological inn that is to 14km South of Atacames, this ecological reserve has 100 hectares with private pool and its cost is very expensive, but also you can find cabins with all the utilities at low prices.


The Esmeraldas province is known as the Green province on the Ecuadorian coast. These hotels are four star and are localized in Atacames 30km outside the center of Esmeraldas. There are various hotels near the beach. Also, you can visit the rivers and the malecon you can go to villages, you can met the people, who live there. Esmeraldas is really incredible for a vacation.


Esmeraldas is a beautiful place where you will relax for the holidays. This providence is beautiful because it has many beaches where you can see the ocean and practice different aquatic sports. Also, it´s a good place to rest and relax in a hotel as: there are three, four, even five star hotels, these hotels have restaurants with delicious Esmeralda’s food. Also, exist restaurants next to the beach. The tourists like to visit these restaurants for the variedly of food. In Esmeraldas there are people selling the typical drink. You will sleep in the different hotels that have different prices between $10 to $500 a night. Also, you can visit the different restaurants that are located next to the beach. In this restaurants you will eat the typical food. For example, ceviche, encocado, encebollado at the beach you will practice surfing, diving and travelling in boats. We can travel to Esmeraldas by airplane, airline TAME, by railway from Ibarra city (highlands region) until San Lorenzo city (coast region) or by bus from any bus terminal. If you travel by bus you need $15. If you travel by bus the time that you travel is between 6 to 9 hours, from Quito to Esmeraldas and if you travel by bus from Ibarra is the same time.



The main attraction in the province Esmeraldas are the warm beaches and its ecological reserves as the ecological reserve Cayapas-Mataje in the north. Also, you can know these places such as: San Lorenzo, Borbon, Camarones, Las Palmas, Tonsupa, Atacames, Sua, Same and Muisne. These are beautiful places. All this becomes in the touristic destination most visited in the country, you can go to Esmeraldas any day of the year because its climate ranges between 21 y 25°C.

ATACAMES:
The first beach that you will visit is Atacames. Atacames is approximately 30km from Esmeraldas City and is known as the Quito’s beach per its proximity with the Ecuador’s capital. It has a large pier with many restaurants outdoor that offer the typical food of the region. On the beachside exists places that sell coconut fish, shrimp and crab, accompanied by fried plantains, pies and green bananas. Also, it has bars that offers coconut juice and exotic drinks during all the night so you can fun and dance nonstopIt is the beach most visited for tourists because it is the most popular beach in Esmeraldas. Along the 5km you can find a great offer of bars, toy stores, ice cream and sellers. The accommodations average is the 15 dollars, the public transport nearby places costs 25 cents, a taxi minimum costs 2 dollars and the delicious seafood cost between 5 – 8 dollars. Atacames city has many amazing places. It´s very famous for the beautiful beach, where you can practice different sports on the beach as, hang-glicling and surfing. There are different activities that you can realize on the beach that cost $20 to $40. You can travel by bus or in your own car. When you travel by bus, you need $10 to $20, this is the price of travel in the bus, but you could travel more comfortable in your own car. Also, the time of travel is 8 hours on the bus, 6 hours in your own car. The typical food and typical drinks cost $7 to $8. The hotels that are in Atacames, are a cost of $46 to $130. The second beach is Tonsupa, it is located 40 minutes outside of the Esmeraldas and the price of the bus is $0.85. In this beach you will drink coconut water for $1. Also you will sleep in a hotel as low as $15 a night.

The third beach is Sua, this beach is very good when you need to relax, it has very calm, also this beach has a cave of love when you go walking by the beach, this beach is next to Atacames and the price of the bus is $ 0,25 and the price of a hotel in this beach is $10.

SAME:

The fourth beach that you need to visit is Same in this beach you will see white sand and turquoise water and when you walk by this beach of 2 km you will see shells of pearl. Also, you will eat a typical food the mix encocado of fish and shrimp for $8.

MOMPICHE:

The fifth beach that you will visit is Mompiche, in this beach you will relax, go to parties and walk by the beach of 7 km. In the sea you will surf, drink and eat for a cheap price. For example a typical breakfast is $3 and an especial food $5 the hotels have a price of $8. If you go to Mompiche you need to travel for 2 hours from Esmeraldas but this is a relaxing travel because the road has beautiful scenery. From this beach you can spot humpback whales and dolphins. The season starts in September. The fisherman rent the marine reserve Cape Galera San Francisco with 54 604 species.

SAN LORENZO:


The finaly beach and a beautiful city that you need visit is San Lorenzo’s city. You can enjoy traditional food of this region, called San Lorenzo, a town in the province of Esmeraldas, a beautiful place for your vacation, you can eat encocados, crabs, shells, sea bass or snapper prepared at the seashore when you at Cauchal Beach. And you can do different things and travels. In this town, The Cauchal Beach with wooden houses surrounded by mango trees, banana, guava, orange, mandarin, grapefruit and coconut palms. If you want to see wildlife, to get there you take a boat at the dock of San Lorenzo many ships are available it takes between 20 and 30 minutes. There you can swim, sunbathe, walk in the forest, sing or dance the marimba. The marimba is a original musical instrument of Ecuador. On one side of the Island are birds, in 3 kilometers of the beach you can see blue-footed boobies, gulls an other birds, In San Lorenzo is the Canton Eloy Alfaro, nearby is Olmedo, where the Majagual ecological reserve, is located trees of the world´s tallest mangroves. Also, you can visit the ecological reserve Cayapas - Mataje.
